Time is never time at all

Wife has taken the kids back to her parents for the rest of the week while we get our new bathroom fitted – I’m staying at home because it’s too hard to get to work from her folks’ house, and I can shower at work/gym, so not having a bathroom is not an issue for me. The important point is that I have three nights to myself. I’m forever grumbling that I don’t have enough free time these days, but whenever I am confronted with an expanse of it laying before me I get overwhelmed by the possibilities.

Stuff I would like to spend some time on:
• My super-secret web-project that’s bound to make me tens of millions of pounds
• Reading. Currently getting stuck into Iain M Banks Culture series, although he’s written nine so far and I’m only halfway through the second
• Catching up with the latest season of Breaking Bad, and the pile of films I’ve downloaded acquired through entirely legitimate means, but not got round to watching yet
• Playing video games (Skyrim, Battlefield 3, Civ V, GTA IV – so many options)
• Going out drinking with anybody I can persuade to play out on a school-night

Stuff I’m probably actually going to do:
• Dithering
• Faffing
• Nothing

  1. Hah! I hear this! I've started writing shit down to do the next time I have a day off. Lists, entirely full of stuff to remember to do when I have some free time. This is not an indication of a life well lived. I can't even say kids are filling up my time.

    1. Since having kids I spend half my life wondering WTF I did with all that free time I had before I was a parent.

Go on, leave a fucking comment, we're all just dying to know what you've got to say for yourself, you self-indulgent arse.
